Phono Preamplifier

In 2002 Boulder released the 2008 Phono Preamplifier, for which Stereophile magazine created the “A+” rating for electronics and called it “one of the 100 most important products in the history of audio.” High praise indeed. When the 1008 Phono Preamplifier was released eight years later, it proved that superiority runs deep in the Boulder family.

Features

  • Unique 985 gain stage is engineered specifically for the 1008 and encased in a shell machined from a solid block of aluminum

  • Interlocking casework eliminates vibration and shields the delicate analog signal inside the chassis

  • Two pairs of inputs for systems with more than one turntable, cartridge, or turntables with dual arms

  • Traditional RIAA equalization as well as EMI, FFRR (London/Decca), and Columbia EQ settings for LPs made before 1955

  • Low-cut filter to remove low frequency noise caused by warped LPs or turntable rumble

  • Fully-balanced input circuitry to take advantage of a phono cartridge's naturally balanced output

  • Flexible cartridge loading and setup via removable Personality Cards on the rear panel

  • Two pairs of balanced outputs to connect preamplifiers and recording devices at the same time

  • Stainless steel buttons are machined and hand-polished to a mirror finish in a nine-step process
